My Services

Counselling

Counselling is a confidential process which gives the client a space to talk through anything they feel they want to. It’s not about the counsellor giving all the answers - after all, they’ve never lived your life or been inside your head - but more about helping you to uncover your own answers.

The process usually consists of weekly, 45 minute sessions, and I can offer these remotely, via online video call or phone, or in person in my garden office. Counselling is collaborative, however, and it may be that it’s more appropriate that you have fortnightly appointments. This is something we can review and revisit as we work together.

All clients can expect safe levels of confidential boundaries and this means that confidentiality is broken only if something is raised in session with my client that gives me concerns that they or someone else isn’t safe, or that a serious crime will or has occured.

Each one to one counselling sessions lasts up to 45 minutes and costs £45.

Other than that, the process is the same in that all clients, when I work with them, are seen as the individual they are no matter what their age. So whether they need to explore their feelings, behaviours or experiences through play or creative work, or even just talking, the client’s agenda remains at the heart of the counselling process and it’s their goals that we work towards.

One to one counselling sessions for all clients are £45 per appointment. Whilst clients of all ages can be seen face to face, clients aged 6-11 can only be seen face to face to allow for creative and play work.

Looking for support for someone else?

Although you may be reading this, it may be someone you care for who needs this support. If they are a child or young person, the only difference really is how we get the referral process started as much of the basic information will have to come from their parent / carer. I work with clients from the age of 6 years and above.

I understand that as a parent, you may be feeling all sorts of things around your child needing counselling, but please be assured that there’s no more judgment in bringing your child for mental health support than it is taking them for support with a sore tooth, or a broken leg. I’m also aware that, just like an adult, younger clients may feel nervous that they are going to meet a person they don’t know to talk about things which are difficult for them to think about or feel. I want to make this whole process as comfortable as I can, so I’m happy to have a chat with you first about what your child or teenager needs, and to answer any questions you might have about the process. I also try and make the room itself and the client’s introduction to me as welcoming as I can, so there are games, toys and craft materials for them to use during our sessions.

Supervision

Supervision is a space for counsellors and other professionals to let go of the emotional load they have taken from the shoulders of their clients. It’s also a space where they can feel free to be open and reflective about their own practice and development needs so that they are always able to give their best to their clients.

I offer a flexible and open approach to the supervision space, working with counsellors at all stages of their career, from those who have yet to meet their first client to those who have years of experience.

Individual supervision sessions cost £50 for 60 minutes; please contact me to discuss group supervision options.
